House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is back at the bargaining table — but it’s not yet clear whether she’s willing to make a deal.
Burned by President Barack Obama’s decision to keep her out of negotiations on last year’s tax deal and this spring’s budget bill, sources close to the California Democrat say she is torn between playing deal-maker on a debt limit increase and fully protecting the priorities of Democrats’ liberal base.
That's from Jonathan Allen (POLITICO) and I don't know. Is Nancy Pelosi really eager to sell out the safety net?
I'm not a big fan of Nancy but I find it hard to believe, considering her family's life in politics, that she'd sell out the safety net. So is Allen repeating false spin?
Maybe he's right. Maybe he knows Nancy Pelosi better than anyone. But I don't think he's in her district. I am. And if the safety net is destroyed, Nancy Pelosi has no political career. We will vote in a Green or a Republican.
We can't take her off the ticket with a Democratic challenger and we're aware of that. But we can take her out with another party. And you better believe we will.
As I said earlier, I don't see her selling out the safety net. It would be shocking. And because it would be shocking, it would be the end of her political career.
