VA was caught by the Inspector General's office lying about their wait time -- repeatedly lying to Congress, in Congressional testimony.
William Schoenhard would allow that there was a problem with metrics and they were working on it. He'd allow that.
You were caught lying.
There was no contrition on the part of VA. There wasn't even an acknowledgement. They didn't appear to take the report seriously or to be embarrassed or ashamed by it.
It was just another day for the VA.
And, sadly, they are correct. This is how it goes now. Over and over. Week after week. Forever and ever. They do nothing to improve the quality of veterans care. I'm referring to the administration, by the way. Not the people at the facilities who are overworked and underpaid.
I say fire all the administrators and I'm not joking.
I say start with William Schoenhard. Get his ass -- his slow-talking ass (he tried to eat up time throughout the hearing) -- out of the VA.
They were caught ahead of the hearing in a scandal. And it didn't appear to phase them.
No offense to those Senators present, but I wish that Richard Burr would have been present (he was out) because he can scare the witness table when they start acting like a real issue is no big deal. He would have reduced this group to tears.
Closing with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
