For someone who self-presents as a know-it-all on all things, Janeane Garofalo is pretty stupid. If you doubt it, read that she divorced Saturday. She'd been married since she was 28 to Big Bang Theory creator Rob Cohen but didn't know it.
She explains they got married while drunk in Vegas but thought it didn't count since they didn't file the marriage license.
Does she not grasp that this is the sort of thing that can lead to bigamy charges.
Do you know that if you register under your own names in a motel or hotel and present as married, that can count? Now in most cases, this only counts when at least one party is rich. That's the only reason people sue for such things. But, yes, if you and I check into a hotel tomorrow and use our real names and present as a married couple than we can be seen as married. I'm not joking.
So holding a ceremony in Vegas but not filing the papers? Yeah, you can be seen as married.
I can't believe Janeane didn't know that because it's weird and quirky (which is her point of view in her stand up). This LAT story has video of her talking about it.
The Rolling Stones have no been a band for 50 years. Can you believe that?
So NPR's All Things Considered got Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood to pick their favorite songs and click here for Keith explaining his pick "Street Fighting Man."
I'm still in shock that Janeane thought she could go through with a wedding ceremony and wouldn't be considered married.
