Good for him
Good for Randy Travis. He's going to perform in Iowa for Republican Michele Bachmann.
Why do I say good for him?
Before anything else, I am an American. And I am deeply embarrassed by all the musicians whining, "Don't use my song!"
In fact, whether you're Heart or Jackson Browne or Tom Petty or whomever, you need to put a sticker on your CDs saying, "Only non-Republicans can listen to this."
I have so little respect for the people doing this.
As I have noted before, Bruce Springsteen did not support Ronald Reagan. At the height of Bruce mania in 1984, Reagan was using Bruce's "Born In The USA." Bruce never whined, "Don't you dare!"
It's a shame others can't grow the hell up.
Why this especially worries me is third parties. Dems will always be able to get a song, Republicans probably too. But Greens and independents. If someone doesn't want a song used in a TV or radio advertisement, fine. But these acts objecting were objecting to their songs even being played over speakers at rally. Again, grow the hell up.
Closing with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
