I'm very glad.
I have no intention of buying the album.
However, I logged on and was at Yahoo and glanced over at "Trending now" -- a list of topics that are very popular or that people are searching.
I look over and there's "Paul McCartney" and my first thought was, "Dear God, Paul is dead."
Paul is dead.
People used to swear they could hear that if they played the track backwards. (It's supposed to be "I Am The Walrus," if I remember correctly, John Lennon told Rolling Stone they were actually saying "Cranberry sauce.") Paul died somewhere after Sgt. Pepper's. That's why, you'd be told, he's barefoot on the Abby Road cover. It's a message that he's dead.
There have been so many death rumors about Paul over the years that I was surprised by my reaction. I really could not breathe when I was thinking, "Dear God, Paul is dead."
And while I don't want anyone to die, Paul's rather old now and his time will come. I'm surprised by how emotional what will be an inevitable event apparently is to me. And apparently how much McCartney means to me even now.
Closing with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
