That's Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Symbolic Value." America needs to stop applauding Psy. It's really embarrassing. I wouldn't weigh in, honestly, if he had just said what he said about soldiers. I'd buy his lie that it was an emotional time blah blah blah. I'd just let it play out without comment. But it didn't end there. He called for the deaths of the family members of American soldiers. It was no longer about a 'battlefield' -- real or mythical. And I think there's something very sick about calling for the deaths of people based on who they are related to.
I did not and do not support the US government detaining family members to force them to spill on their husbands, fathers, what have you. I certainly don't support some off-key moron calling for the deaths of family members.
If it weren't for that, I wouldn't say anything about the whole topic, honestly. A few words from a butterball aren't going to hurt most US soldiers. They're not even going to care. But when you call for the deaths of someone's family?
I find it embarrassing that Barack went to that concert.
At Third, we noted Janis Ian's latest Grammy nomination in "Best news of the month" -- best news was that she was getting ready to record a new album. SheWired notes her nomination via a different hook:
It’s battle of the lesbians vying for the Grammy’s Best Spoken Word Album with Ellen DeGeneres, Rachel Maddow and Janis Ian all landing nominations. The three lesbian titans are also up against Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama, which is very good company indeed.
Five slots. Three are out lesbians? Yes, that is progress and worth noting.
Closing with C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot:"
